Midnight Blooms

  • Third City Studio 5538 West North Avenue Chicago, IL, 60639 United States (map)

As the sun sets and shadows fade our minds light the way forward: creativity unfurls as Midnight Blooms.
We take refuge under a constellation of ecstasy, where we hide from the anxiety that looms in the approaching dawn.
We shed masks of the outside world and don the uniform of freedom.
Our labor is invisible, but our impact is seen.
We exhaust ourselves, swimming behind the endless wake of our dreams.
We can't fight the sun's inevitable rise.
As the light peers through we are reminded of what we sought to escape.
But we don't worry.
Knowing that when the light fades, once again Midnight Blooms

Featuring nine young contemporary Black Chicago artists, Midnight Blooms is a show about the night as a refuge for the uncommon thinker, whose creativity blossoms only after the common culture of the day has faded.

Midnight Blooms is curated by formerly exhibiting Third City Gallery artist Jeff Rivers, and the first show in our resident curator series.

Register for the show opening event on August 29. Registration forthcoming for the closing event on October 10.
