Messejah Washington
From Chicago's South Side, Messejah Washington is an interdisciplinary artist and educator whose experience in art carries back to his birth. Through his motifs, Messejah addresses worker solidarity, the migrations of Black Americans, and the effects of racial and class division on Black history.
He is a Lumniarts finalist, Illinois Arts Council Agency grantee, DCASE Neighborhood Access program grantee and current artist in residence at the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago. He has received training in Florence, Italy and currently attends the Ravenswood atelier in Chicago to receive classical training in drawing and painting.
