Avin HannahSmith is a multidisciplinary artist and educator born, raised, and based in Chicago, and recent graduate of Columbia College’s MFA program.

A resident of the 2025-2026 Dark Matter Residency at Elastic Arts, and nominated for the sculpture program at the Ox-Bow School of Art and the Ground Floor at Hyde Park Art Center, his work has also been featured in the LP Herald Dispatch, ShoutOut Michigan, CanvasRebel, and Columbia Feature, and he has exhibited in the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, the Chesterton Art Center, and South Shore Arts.

HannahSmith is a member of performance duo, AvAq, with Aquarius Ester Alegria, performing in Yes Project Space, Bim Bom Studios and Elastic Arts.

He is also an educator, having recently been an art adjudicator for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in the Chicago Art region, and an active member of the Professional Practices Committee in the College Arts Association. He also sits on the board for PullmanArts + the Block House Gallery, and was an associate professor in the School of Art at Indiana University-South Bend.
