Caleb Guider
Caleb Guider is a Chicago-based photographer born and raised in East Garfield Park and currently living in Austin. His work is rooted in lived experience as a Black artist navigating identity, gender, and selfhood within environments that are not always built to nurture growth. Working primarily in photography, he uses self-portraiture, portraiture, and landscape to explore how personal and collective transformation can emerge through limitation, instability, and change.
He studied film at Lawrence University with minors in studio art and gender studies, and this interdisciplinary background continues to shape his photographic practice. Working across
both film and digital formats, he often uses 35mm, Polaroid, medium format, and expired film. He is drawn to materials and processes that embrace imperfection, chance, and vulnerability.
